On May 23rd 2015, it is hoped that the Gold Coast will become the hub of contemporary a cappella via the Voices in Paradise event, to be hosted as part of The Arts Centre Gold Coast’s Fiesta De La Musica festival. This event will see over 100 singers of all-ages gather for an all day workshop to train in the art of a cappella. The event will be a collaboration between The Blenders Chorus, Griffith University and The Arts Centre Gold Coast; with the goal of encouraging more young singers to get involved in a cappella singing and join a choir.
Voices In Paradise Musical Director Jonathan Albertini will lead these singers through the workshop along with 8 internationally renowned a cappella singers from the groups Musical Island Boys and Ginger and Tonic who are flying in for the occasion.
The workshop portion of Voices In Paradise will be held at Griffith University and the Concert will be held at The Arts Centre Gold Coast. During the day of the workshop, the young people develop their skills in four part a cappella harmony, technical vocal production as well as artistic presentation such as choreography, through the expert coaching of these highly experienced educators and performers. After the day of learning, the students have the opportunity to perform their work in a large concert and share the stage with champion quartets Musical Island Boys and Ginger and Tonic.
Registrations for singers wishing to participate close tomorrow, and can be made via the official Voices in Paradise website. Tickets to see the concert on the other hand can be purchased via The Arts Centre Gold Coast.
