KOMODO has today released its first original manga title, Moon Ciders, which is now available to read for free on NIUHI, the company’s newly launched digital manga platform. Designed to support indie creators worldwide, NIUHI allows users to discover, purchase, sell, and translate manga and comics. However, access to Moon Ciders requires only a free NIUHI account.
Set in a future where humanity has extended its civilisation to the Moon, Moon Ciders follows the story of a mysterious warrior who confronts a massive, predatory creature known only as “it.” The manga explores themes of justice and truth, combining dynamic artwork with a narrative that blends action and philosophical inquiry.
Moon Ciders is the work of the Japanese manga artist duo TALI, based in Kagawa, Japan. TALI consists of writer Takafumi and artist Ginko, who debuted in Gangan magazine in 2009 and won the Grand Prize at the Square Enix Manga Awards. The duo later launched their first serialised work, 6 no Trigger, in Gessan, a publication of Shogakukan. Their other titles include Do Humans at the End of the World Need Civilization? and Katagiri-san, the Last-Minute Blocker.
As part of the launch, TALI will be doing a live character drawing session at the NIUHI booth during this weekend’s COMITIA indie manga and art event in Tokyo.
The release of Moon Ciders is part of a broader initiative by KOMODO throughout May, which includes creator contests, customer promotions, and participation in industry trade shows. Earlier this week, KOMODO announced a new initiative offering free professional translation services for manga and comic creators interested in publishing on NIUHI.
