Offering something a little bit different from their regular monthly releases of manga and light novel, Yen Press has confirmed their acquisition of Honobu Yonezawa’s latest mystery novel, Black Dungeon Castle, for release internationally in June 2023. This will be the very first of Yonezawa’s novelised works to be translated into English, and while nothing has been confirmed as of writing, could be the first of many works from the author to be published worldwide in the future.
onobu Yonezawa is best known for his young adult mystery novel series the Classic Literature Club, which has been adapted into an anime titled Hyouka, named after the first volume. Yonezawa has received many awards in the past, such as Yamamoto Shugoro Prize for his short story collection Mangan and the Mystery Writers of Japan Award for Best Novel for his book Oreta Ryukotsu. Black Dungeon Castle has earned Honbu Yonezawa two more prestigious awards to add to his list of accolades—the Yamada Futaro Prize and the Naoki Prize.
Black Dungeon Castle will be available from Yen Press in hardcover and digital formats starting June 2023.
