The Haruhi Suzumiya media franchise, created by author Nagaru Tanigawa and artist Noizi Ito, was one of the stand-out franchises from the 2000s. During the peak of its popularity, it enjoyed not only its original light novel instalments but also manga adaptations, anime adaptations, original net animations (ONA), a feature-length film, spin-off chapters. It even spawned the ever-popular “Hare Hare Yukai” dance which many otaku from the era would have had ingrained in their memory.
Following a long-time break between publishing a new light novel volume, the 12th light novel in the series titled ‘The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya‘ is due to launch on 25 November 2020 in ebook form and June 2021 as a physical compilation. Its distribution will be a little bit unique, in that the Japanese and international releases will coincide.
But what if you are new to the Haruhi Suzumiya light novel adaptations and have yet to begin reading about the adventures of Kyon, Haruhi, Nagato, Mikuru, Itsuki and their other friends and acquaintances?
From January 2021 until May 2021, two of the original volumes will be re-published by Yen Press physically each month as part of their Yen On imprint. This will start with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya in January 2021. By the time ‘The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya‘ is available in paperback form, you will be able to easily collect and read all ten prior novels. Alternatively, you can pick up all volumes digitally.
The Yen On edition of Haruhi Suzumiya will be published in a paperback format with the original cover art by Noizi Ito that was used in the Japanese edition as well as the Yen Press hardcover edition of the light novel series. The digital release of ‘The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya‘ is scheduled for November 25, 2020, simultaneous with its release in Japan, and in June 2021 physically.
