Tsukuyomi Moon Phase has been a rather popular series over the years, spanning over 14 volumes of manga, 25 episodes of anime and 1 OVA. This series in my opinion, gets better as the volumes go on, and is better as an anime series, however, it doesn’t make this a bad volume at all.
Artwork: They do put quite a bit of detail in regards to the landscape. Whilst there are some parts which do involve just a white backdrop, nature is often included and is rather detailed such as the castle and the grassy forests. All these little things make it a much more pleasurable read. Also, the character designs aer done well, with a good amount of time evidently being put into designing both the main characters as well as minor characters such as Bigo and Seiji.
Characters: A number of main and secondary characters are displayed in this volume of the manga. First off, both Kouhei and Hazuki each get a good amount of viewing time each, with them showing how Kouhei will protect Hazuki, even if not everything goes to her plan. Other characters such as Seiji get less viewing time but does allow enough to continue the story. Character development is still at a minimum in this volume however it does improve in further volumes.
Storyline: The storyline is definitely the most unique aspect of the manga, which takes a common monster type such as Vampire, adds a guy to it who is willing to protect her and then finishing it off with both 100% more Kawaii-ness and 100% more high paced action. It works well together.
Extras: The following extras are included –
- Bonus Manga Chapter
- 4koma
- Postscript
- Advertisments
Quite a good array of extras.
The rest of the series: In comparison to this volume, each volume improves quite a considerable amount so I would recommend continuing on with this if you enjoyed this volume.
