Indie publisher ESDigital Games has unveiled a new gameplay trailer for their upcoming science-fiction narrative-driven game Sky of Tides during the recent Future Games Show Spring Showcase. The game is slated for release in 2024 and will be available on PC through Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and the Nintendo Switch. A PC demo is currently accessible for download on Steam.
Developed by Lofty Sky Entertainment Inc, Sky of Tides sets out to present a story-driven science fiction adventure with role-playing game elements, set within a technologically sophisticated universe on the verge of conflict. Players will assume the role of Rin, tasked with finding her missing father and restoring the fractured planet of Numen.
Sky of Tides introduces players to a world fragmented into nine floating planetoids following a disaster, with nations isolated from one another under an enveloping ocean. The game’s setting is a battleground for control between two rival factions: the Syndicate, wielding a monopoly over a powerful and poorly understood technology based on Corron minerals, and the Sovereign, proponents of a return to ancient traditions documented in the prohibited Numen Tomes. Players will embark on journeys to explore ancient and unknown lands, engage in meaningful dialogue that shapes their character, and uncover a hidden power with the potential to mend the shattered world of Numen.
Furthermore, ESDigital and Lofty Sky Entertainment have announced the production of a new five-part animated TV series, Sky of Tides: Atla, set within the same universe is underway. The narrative follows Atla, a teenager from the elite class of the Ames Nation on Numen 9, as she confronts the burdens of privilege and leadership. Faced with a choice between allegiance to the Syndicate or aiding the Sovereign Coalition’s resistance, Atla’s decisions will have significant implications. Will she pledge loyalty to the powerful Syndicate, or dare to break away from her handlers and assist the Sovereign Coalition in its resistance to world domination? The series is expected to premiere in 2024 on yet-to-be-revealed streaming platforms.
