Are you a fan of the work done by Rooster Teeth, and been waiting the home video release of their sci-fi action comedy feature film Lazer Team? Your wait is almost over. Australian publisher Hanabee Entertainment have confirmed that the film will be headed to store shelves as a “Director’s Cut” version on DVD and Blu-ray starting August 11 2016.

The Lazer Team Director’s Cut is releasing to home video in Australia following what they have called “box office success” through a cinema-on-demand campaign in partnership with Tugg. With more than $300,000, Australia accounted for 12% of the films global box office – which is not too shabby. Lazer Team was also one of the larger crowdfunded films in history, earning more than $2.4 million in 30 days.

Lazer Team was directed by Matt Hullum and written by Burnie Burns, Chris Demarais, Joshua Flanagan and Matt Hullum. With some familiar names in its line-up, the cast of Lazer Team includes Burnie Burns (The Amazing Race, Red vs. Blue), Gavin Free (The Slow Mo Guys), Michael Jones (RWBY), Colton Dunn (Superstore, Key and Peele), Allie DeBerry (A.N.T. Farm), and Alan Ritchson (Blue Mountain State, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).

Plan to nab yourself a copy? Pre-orders are now being taken online (DVD/Blu-ray).

About Lazer Team

Four small-town losers stumble across an alien crash site containing an incredible battle suit. One round of bickering and a quick scuffle later, they each find themselves wearing a piece of the suit, which has genetically bound itself to them. Now, they must work together as one to save humanity.

With the government chasing after them and desperate to remove their new equipment at ANY cost, the foursome must learn to use a strange alien device meant for only one person, train for a battle against an omnipotent enemy, and not kill each other in the process. They may not be strong, smart, or talented… but they’re Lazer Team.
