Figured As Much Photo Collection #1 – No Game No Life – Izuna Hatsuse – Swimsuit Style

Building a collection of anime and video game figures is an expensive hobby, with the small collection I have (some of which have been covered on The Otaku’s Study) easily costing me thousands of dollars to acquire over the last couple of years. Therefore if you are someone whose favourite characters shift with every season or prefer mainstream characters, and don’t have some form of disposable income, then it might not be the hobby for you. While the most popular figures will sell out during their pre-order period, in situations where you do have the luxury to do so, knowing a figure is tailored to your preferences is essential to ensure you get value for money.

As I have had to pull back from purchasing any new figures for the past couple of months, rather than write reviews of new releases, I would like to share a look at my current figure collection through this new photographic series. I hope my sharing these may help you in deciding whether purchasing a particular figure is a wise decision or note.

No Game, No Life is a media franchise which has received many figure releases over its lifespan. Most of the pre-painted figures come in the form of protagonist Shiro, with some also being based on secondary characters Stephanie Dola and Jibril. Introduced at the end of the anime and a few volumes into the original light novel, werebeast girl Izuna Hatsuse has also received a figure – with another to come in the next couple of months. While we are still waiting for one of her usual clothing, this first figure (released in May 2018) is part of the No Game No Life swimsuit figure collection – manufactured by Aquamarine and sculpted by Missile.

This figure see’s Izuna wearing a traditional Japanese school swimsuit, with a pink kimono featuring a floral imprint wrapped around her shoulders. Definitely on the cute side of things, but a solid consideration for those looking something NGNL related and already having a half dozen Shiro figures in their collection. Just need a Sora to go with the heavily-female oriented set of figures to date.
