Following the release of the show’s first preview trailer (PV1) above earlier in the week, we have leant that the upcoming TV anime adaptation of Tsurumaikada’s sports-drama manga, Medalist, will be launching as part of Japan’s Winter 2024/2025 anime season in January 2025.
Medalist follows a young man named Tsukasa Akeuraji (Voiced by Takeo Ōtsuka), who after not being able to make it as a professional figure skater, meets meets Inori Yuitsuka (voiced by Natsumi Haruse), a girl who harbors aspirations for the world of figure skating. Driven by Inori’s relentless passion for the rink, Ryoji takes it upon himself to become her coach. As Inori’s talent begins to bloom and Ryoji grows as a coach, the duo set their sights on becoming glorious “Medalists”.
The TV anime adaptation of Medalist features animation by ENGI, with direction by Yasutaka Yamamoto, series composition by Jukki Hanada, and character designs by Chinatsu Kameyama. Following the release of this trailer, we have also learnt that the anime will feature music by Yuki Hayashi, Youko Nakao as Art Director, sound direction by Yuuichi Imaizumi and more. Japanese voice actors joining the cast include Kana Ichinose as Hikaru Kamisaki, and Yuuma Uchida as Jun Yodaka.
Shaping up to be another fun, more slice-of-life, sports-drama anime. The first eight volumes of the manga are available in the west digitally, officially via Kodansha USA, while the first volume has recently received a physical release also.
