Sound of the Sky Blu-ray Collection to Be Offered by Nozomi Entertainment in June

Although not a new acquisition since a DVD Litebox version of the series is currently available for purchase, Nozomi Entertainment have announced they will be offering a Blu-ray collection of Sound of the Sky. Priced at approximately $49.99 USD, this show will be available in the North American anime market from June 6th 2017.

Sound of the Sky (So Ra No Wo To | ソ・ラ・ノ・ヲ・ト) first aired in Japan during early-2010, and offers 12 episodes in its (currently) only TV anime season. This collection also comes with the two OVA episodes, which aired later in 2010.

This show was directed by Mamoru Kanbe (Elfen Lied, Cardcaptor Sakura), and features series composition by Hiroyuki Yoshino (Black Butler, Accel World) and music by Michiru Oshima (Magic User’s Club, Boys Over Flowers). It also features animation done by A-1 Pictures.

The Story of Sound of the Sky

In a lonely corner of the world, on the edge of No Man’s Land, sits Clocktower Fortress. It’s home to the 1121st Platoon of the Helvetian Army, and their newest member is a 15-year-old volunteer named Kanata Sorami, who enlisted to learn how to play the bugle. When she was a child, Kanata was saved by a beautiful soldier and found inspiration in the clear, golden sound of her trumpet. From that day forward, Kanata decided music would be her life. As the other platoon members train her how to be a bugler and a soldier, Kanata’s enduring optimism will inspire them to look for happiness and beauty, even in a world haunted by war.
