A new month upon us means a brand new batch of anime releases from Australia’s local anime publishers is soon to head our way. In terms of size, it is Madman Entertainment who once again provides the largest (although small compared to some other recent months) haul of titles – with a total of six volumes on offer. With all to be available for purchase beginning October 21st, you can find the list of titles below. Pre-orders/purchases (depending on when you read this post) can be made via the Madman Entertainment website or possibly your local anime retailer.

The Kusaribe family is a family of sorcerers under the protection of the “Tree of Origins”. Their princess, Hakaze Kusaribe, was the greatest sorceress of their family. But Samon Kusaribe, a member of their family seeking to resurrect the “Tree of World’s End”, a tree that opposes the “Tree of Origins” and controls the power of destruction, stuffs her into a barrel, and banishes her to a deserted island. From the deserted island, she sends a message out to sea, which is picked up by Mahiro Fuwa, a young boy who’s sworn vengeance upon the criminal who killed his little sister, Aika. Mahiro agrees to help Hakaze under the condition that she find Aika’s killer with her magic. But once Mahiro’s best friend and Aika’s lover, Yoshino Takigawa is rescued from danger, he too gets dragged into this tale of revenge.

Fairy Tail Collection 16 (Episode 176-186)
DVD/Blu-ray | Hybrid Dub | $59.95 | 275 Minutes

As raucous rumbles rage on in the streets, the true purpose for the Grand Magic Games is revealed along with a connection to a greater conspiracy. Lucy and Yukino are imprisoned for their involvement, and Natsu tags out of the games to break them out. Everything goes according to plan until they’re tossed into the inescapable Abyss Palace and must face the palace’s executioners – a group more twisted and challenging than any guild.

As the princess of Fiore protects her kingdom from a doomsday prediction, an epic duel between Erza and Kagura ignites as Minerva manipulates both warriors to battle to the bitter end. Secrets exposed, pasts connected, and the shocking reveal of a familiar face will rock the guild to its very foundations.

Haikyu!! Part 2
DVD | Japanese Dub | $59.95 | 300 Minutes

In the wake of the blistering practice match against the Nekoma High School team, the Karasuno High School volleyball squad digs in and vows to bring their game up another level. Prior to the arrival of the new freshmen, the general belief was that Karasuno’s day in the sun was over, but while the ongoing rivalry between Hinata and Kageyama has inspired everyone to push themselves even further, there’s still a lot of friction that’s ultimately slowing down their game.

It’s not until the announcement of the brackets for the Inter-School tourney are announced that the reality of what they are attempting to do finally takes hold. As talented as each of the team members may be individually, they have no chance of winning unless they can finally come together as a seamless unit. Can Hinata and Kageyama put their battle for dominance on hold long enough to take on the overwhelming brilliance of the Aoba Johsai squad?

Hozuki’s Coolheadedness Series Collection
DVD | Japanese Dub | $59.95 | 325 Minutes

There are hard jobs, there are jobs that seem outright impossible, but in the end, the most difficult job in all creation probably belongs to Hozuki, Hell’s hardest working bureaucrat. That’s because Hozuki is Deputy Chief to Enma, the King of Hell. Enma spends all his time sitting in judgment of the recently deceased, so it’s up to Hozuki to keep the dark half of the afterlife running smoothly. And that would be hellishly complicated even if Hell wasn’t constantly short on good help. Fortunately, Hozuki’s not the typical bureaucratic hothead you’d expect to find heading a department of infernal affairs. Fiendishly clever and determined enough to dedicate multiple lifetimes to a task (though not necessarily his OWN lifetimes), he’ll get the job done even if it means breaking a few unbreakable rules and running circles around Hell’s normal operating procedures. As for patience… well, Hell hasn’t frozen over quite yet, so the verdict’s still out on that, but he doesn’t suffer fools lightly, let alone damned fools. After all, that Highway to Hell isn’t going to get paved with just good intentions, so if someone has to suffer for all eternity, Hozuki’s damned sure that it’s not going to be himself in HOZUKI’S COOLHEADEDNESS!

The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat Series Collection
DVD | Japanese Dub | $59.95 | 300 Minutes

Koto is a complete and total pervert, but he doesn’t think that’s a problem. What bothers him is that every time he tries to bluff his way through one of his indiscretions, his inability to drop his emotionless facade inevitably digs him in even deeper. Tsukiko also has an issue and wants to get rid of her childish habit of blurting out whatever she happens to be thinking.

When they learn about a statue of a cat that can take away a single personality trait that you want to get rid of, they’re both eager to try it out. However, what neither of them realizes until it’s too late is that the cat doesn’t just take the personality trait away from you, it gives it to somebody else! Now Koto can’t keep himself from saying exactly what’s on his mind, while Tsukiko has picked up a complete inability to display emotion! Could the solution be finding the original owners of all the assorted problems and arranging an un-swap? And if it is, just how are they going to find everyone?

When Marnie Was There
DVD/Blu-ray | Hybrid Dub | $34.95 / $39.95 | 103 Minutes

Twelve-year-old Anna believes she sits outside the invisible magic circle to which most people belong, and shuts herself off from everyone around her.

Concerned for her health, Anna’s foster mother decides to send her to rural Hokkaido to stay in a sleepy town by the sea. As she dreams her days away amongst the marshes, Anna finds herself strangely drawn to the enigmatic house which sits upon the edge there. This is where she meets Marnie, an energetic young girl who seems to appear from nowhere. The pair quickly become inseparable.

One evening, Marnie makes a heartfelt request of Anna: “Promise me something – that we’ll remain a secret, forever.” Anna begins to wonder about her newfound friend and is compelled to investigate the truth about her. As she is drawn deeper into Marnie’s world, she begins to learn about family, friendship and kindness.

Based on the beloved novel by Joan G. Robinson, WHEN MARNIE WAS THERE is the latest film from Studio Ghibli, and the second feature film by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, the director of ARRIETTY.
