In their final announcement for today, Aniplex of America have announced their plans to release the first season of Silver Spoon as a Complete DVD set from July 15th, 2014. Silver Spoon is an anime adaptation of the manga series originally created by author, Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist). The story follows Shogakukan Manga Award in 2012. The unique story follows Yugo Hachiken, a young man who decides to attend an agricultural high school in the countryside of Hokkaido prefecture in order to escape the academic pressures he had to live within the city. The series demonstrates how Yugo, who is initially burned-out, comes to see his life through a different light as he engages with his classmates and works with the animals on the farm at Oezo Agricutral High School a.k.a. Ezono.
This set will include all 11-episodes in the series across 3 DVD’s with a small collection of bonus on-disc extras. Unfortunately for those who like the choice of dubs, this set will come with only the original Japanese audio with English subtitles. It is currently set to retail at $74.98 (SRP), and can be pre-ordered through Rightstuf.com HERE or other select anime retailers.
About Silver Spoon
The only reason why Yugo Hachiken decided to attend the Oezo Agricultural High School (a.k.a Ezono) was simply because the school had a dormitory. Entering Ezono was a way for Yugo to run away from the stifling academic pressures in the city, however, it didn’t take long for him to realize that life is not that simple. Yugo is soon forced to face more hurdles in his new environment surrounded by all the farm animals and the magnificent Mother Nature. He also begins feeling a different kind of pressure as he deals with his classmates who, unlikely him, all have a clear view of what they want for their futures. Even so, as Yugo overcomes one challenge after another at Ezono and deepens his bonds with his classmates, he begins to grow stronger both physically and mentally.
