Last year saw Australian anime publisher Madman Entertainment acquire the rights to animated feature film Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, based on Platinum Games’ 2010 action game Bayonetta. The question was… when would the Australian premiere of the film be?

With the program for this years event being unveiled today, it turns out that the annual Gold Coast Film Festival will be holding the Australian premiere, as they have for other films such as The Garden of Words and Children Who Chase Lost Voices From Deep Below previously. There will only be one screening on April 12th, 2014 at 1:30PM, and should make for a very enjoyable watch.

The film will be available with the original Japanese dub with English subtitles, and a runtime of approximately 89 minutes. It is unknown if they will be inviting any special guests for the screenings.

Twenty years ago, a woman came back to life from a coffin at the bottom of a gloomy lake. She couldn’t remember anything, not even her name, but her body was etched with a memory that unlocks the mystery to her lost past. It is the “power of a witch” which controls savage magical creatures to bury the messenger from heaven.

Bayonetta the witch has comes back from the dead to our time travelling cross several hundred years. She follows a clue to her faint memory, which brings her to Vigrid, a remote region in Europe. Countless angels attack to stop her. Strange encounters awaken her past. And what lies ahead for her…?
