The Next Studio Ghibli Blu-ray Release to Be Available in Australia Seems to Be Kiki’s Delivery Service

Over the last few years, Australian anime publisher Madman Entertainment have been releasing a number of Blu-ray releases of Studio Ghibli’s earlier works – from older titles such as Laputa: Castle in the Sky and My Neighbor Totoro to newer releases such as Howl’s Moving Castle. It turns out that the next  film to receive the Blu-ray treatment and release from Madman is Kiki’s Delivery Service – the fourth Studio Ghibli film originally released in 1989, following a young girl by the name of Kiki who as a witch, leaves home and travels for a year – making a port side city her home.

At the moment it is unknown what month this release will be made (Potentially April or May 2013). Kiki’s Delivery Service was released by Madman Entertainment on DVD in October 2004 and is still purchasable by the publisher for $29.95.

It is tradition for all young witches to leave their families on the night of a full moon to learn their craft. That night comes for Kiki, who follows her dream and embarks on the experience of a lifetime. With her chatty black cat, Jiji, She flies off to find the perfect spot in a faraway city. There, a bakery owner befriends Kiki and helps her start her own business: A high-flying delivery service.

Follow Kiki and her journeys on world of fun-filled escapades and new friendships, including one with Tombo, a boy who dreams one day of flying. Rarely has the animator’s art been so brilliantly rendered as in this delightfully imaginative film that will entertain boys and girls everywhere.
