5 Points Pictures Announce Special Edition DVD Release of PUNCH during February 2013 1Film distributor 5 Points Pictures have recently announced that the two-disc special edition release of PUNCH will be available for purchase on the 19th February 2013.

A coming-of-age story with equal parts humor and humanity, Punch features direction by LEE Han (Lover’s ConcertoAlmost Love) and standout performances from YOO Ah-in (Sungkyunkwan ScandalAntique) and KIM Yun-seok (The Thieves, The Chaser), along with KIM Sang-ho (Moss, City Hunter TV), PARK Soo-young (Architecture 101) and Jasmine LEE.

PUNCH was one of the surprise box-office champs during 2011, with more than 5.3 million tickets sold in South Korea – and following its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival, it went on to screen at the Berlin International Film Festival, Udine Far East Film Festival, Shanghai International Film Festival, and Fantasia Film Festival, as well as throughout North America.

Based upon a best-selling young-adult novel by KIM Ryeo-ryeong, Punch was produced by UBU Film and Another Pictures. It is presented by CJ Entertainment.

The 5 Points Pictures’ release of the film will feature an upgraded English translation of the film, plus a nearly an hour and 15 minutes of translated and subtitled video extras from the South Korean limited edition releases.

“During my second year of high school, I met the greatest opponent of my life…”

Wan-deuk (YOO Ah-in, Sungkyunkwan ScandalAntique) is a soft-spoken rebel who has all the makings of an at-risk youth. He comes from a poor family headed by a hunchback father and a stammering uncle. He is a quiet loner, who best expresses himself with his fists. And he has no dreams for the future beyond the day he can escape the watchful eye of his meddling homeroom teacher, Dong-ju… who just happens to live right next door.

Dong-ju (KIM Yun-seok, The ThievesThe Chaser) is no ordinary educator. He speaks bluntly and seems more concerned with the world outside the classroom than school regulations. Dong-ju takes a particular interest in his young neighbor’s life. And one day, he blindsides Wan-deuk with some unexpected information: The mother Wan-deuk never knew is a Filipino immigrant, and she wants to see him…
