Over the last month or so, Madman Entertainment has been asking their fans to vote for their favourite anime releases from the company (Along with other releases which due to their diversity, most likely won’t make it into this top 20) and giving away on-the-spot prizes to those who provided interesting vote justifications.
After all this, Madman has now begun their countdown, with a daily announcement from #’ 20 to 1. Number 20 has been voted by the public as being Elfen Lied, a show well known for its interesting storyline and bloody storyline. I did a review of the series back last year which you can view HERE.
The following is the blurb Madman Entertainment provided for this title:
Just sneaking into the Top 20, ELFEN LIED was one of the big surprises of the poll.
With its mix of brutal violence, tragic characters and challenging adult themes, the show has always enjoyed a decent following. That it snuck into the Top 20 really floored us! Based on all of your comments it’s clear that ELFEN LIED transcends the action-horror genre in a way that very few titles have.
One of the keys to its greatness is character development. ELFEN LIED goes beyond the clichés to develop compelling characters whose plight we become totally engrossed in. The plot twists and suspense, the shocking gore – “adult” anime is alive and well.
Check back tomorrow for the #19 anime series in the Madman Top 20 Anime Titles vote!

It’s a fun show to watch but definitely nowhere near the top 20
