A Visual Novel System That I Think Worked Well.... 2Whilst I was writing my review for We Love Master!, I was thinking about the best means of implementing both a hentai game and a good storyline all into one. Whilst I think at the moment it is most probably the most plausible to just intermingle the two – there are series that would not gain any benefit whatsoever from doing so – this is where the system of Gothic Delusion shone. Gothic Delusion, also referred to as Gothderi (ゴスデリ) is a visual novel developed and published by the company Lose and was released around the middle of last year. The game did not use the respective character portraits but instead almost everything was composed of stunning CG art that had the text overlayed on the images, similar to what occurs in Umineko no Naku Koro ni. Before I go any further, here is a synopsis of the storyline for the title:

One moonlit night, new teacher Takamichi has a trick played on him on his way home by a girl Lo who says she is not a human and had been looking for him. It seems that she was being chased by someone. He thought that her claims were totally absurd, but not wanting to leave her alone in the middle of the night, decided to take her to the nearest koban.

As you can see, the storyline might give a hint that there would be some “adult” content involved but for the entire storyline – there was not a single sex scene in the story and whilst being short, it worked really well and was not ruined by the protagonists sudden urges to drop his pants. This begs to ask the question – why was this given a classification on par with other hentai games?  Because they did actually include them. The game has a separate side menu which you can use to select unlockable scenes to watch if you prefer the content – or can blissfully ignore it and enjoy the storyline as is.

This also allowed the publishers to release new scenes monthly – usually based upon community vote to keep the game fresh every month until the end of December I think… Sure if this game were ever released outside of Japan they would need to remove some of the hentai scenes… particularily *Looks* H0 –> H3, however it is a perfect system to entice those who may not want to see ero scenes to be able to enjoy the storyline either way.

The game is not available outside of Japan, however Lose do have a second project which is slated to be announced soon, according to their official website.
