Starting out as a joint partnership between car maker Subaru and anime studio Gainax as part of an original anime shorts series, Wish Upon the Pleiades (Aka. Houkago no Pleiades / 放課後のプレアデス) is set to begin its run as a fully-fledged anime series this current season in Japan. North American anime publisher Sentai Filmworks have confirmed that they now hold the rights to this season, and will be simulcasting it as part of their Spring 2015 season.
Wish Upon the Pleiades centers around a group of magical girls on the hunt for alien fragments, with the goal of helping an otherworldly visitor return home. This magical adventure comedy series is being directed by Shouji Saki, with character designs by Mai Otsuka (Non Non Biyori), art direction Hiroshi Kato and finally sound direction provided by Satoki Iida.
Wish Upon the Pleiades will begin its simulcast run this month, with a home video release planned for a later date.
