A slime cat called Tama is the star of Tama In-Between, a pixel art puzzle platformer that is now out on Steam. Publisher Fruitbat Factory released the game from developer Masagomi Studio on 29 October 2026, and a Nintendo Switch version is planned for 2027.
The game is set in a world long after humanity has disappeared, where life has taken on new forms. Tama lives peacefully with its friends at Kedama House until a sinister Hand appears and takes them all. Guided by a mysterious butterfly, Tama sets out across a strange fantasy world to find them.
Each stage is solved using three abilities. Split lets Tama break off part of its body to leave a clone behind, which can hold down switches, and the recoil from splitting can launch Tama across wide gaps. Absorb lets Tama take in slimes found throughout each stage, or reabsorb its own clones, and the bigger Tama gets, the more clones it can create. Possess sends Tama’s soul into a distant clone to take control of it, so placing clones carefully and choosing the right moment to switch is key. Stages are designed to reward both clever thinking and precise execution.
Tama In-Between does not require any reading to play, making it suitable for players regardless of language. It is available on Steam for $8.99, with a 10% launch discount. The original soundtrack, featuring chiptune-inspired tracks made as a tribute to classic retro games, is also available for $3.99, with an extra discount when bought as part of the Tama In-Between Soundtrack Bundle.
