Official multiplayer battle arena game Pokémon UNITE has an end date. The Pokémon Company has confirmed that the game will end service on Tuesday 23 March 2027 at 00:00 UTC. The shutdown covers both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions. Service for the Nintendo Switch version began on 21 July 2021, and the game also released on iOS and Android in 2021.
Some changes are already taking place. As of today, Aeos gems are no longer on sale, though any gems players already have can still be used until service ends. New UNITE Club memberships are no longer being accepted from the same time, and automatic renewals for existing memberships have been suspended. Current members can keep using their benefits until their existing membership period runs out.
Before the game goes offline, there is still some content to come. An update on Thursday 12 November 2026 will add a special event, described as a thank you to players, during which they can pick up a range of items including Unite licenses and Holowear that have appeared in the game over the years.
The same update introduces a “library” feature, which lets players view certain records and in-game content even after the servers close. To use it, players need to complete the required library data download before 00:00 UTC on 23 March 2027. Anyone who misses that window will not be able to access the library afterwards. Library data generally cannot be moved to a new device, and no support for the feature will be offered once service ends. This has been used in a few other since shut-down mobile games such as SinoAlice, and while it does require you to keep your old phones around well past use, is better than nothing.
