Almost a year after its PC debut, AYASA: Shadows of Silence has arrived on consoles. Aya Games has released the atmospheric horror puzzle-platformer on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, following its 28 November 2025 PC launch on Steam.
The game tells its story without spoken dialogue, relying instead on movement, surreal imagery and music. Arman Msryan composed its soundtrack, drawing on the music of Komitas, while the art direction takes cues from Tim Burton, René Laloux, Robert Sahakyants, Hayao Miyazaki and Sergei Parajanov.
Edgar Janoyan, Founder and CEO of Aya Games, spoke about the game’s wordless approach and what the console release means after its time on PC.
Ayasa was always meant to speak without words. We wanted players to feel the story rather than read it. Seeing players on PC connect with Ayasa’s journey has meant everything to us. Today, players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can finally step into the Inverted World and find their own light in the dark.
The setting is the Inverted World, a realm that was once kept in balance between light and shadow under Tas, the Absolute. War broke that balance, and six lands named Faith, Hope, Love, Greed, Indifference and Betrayal are now being swallowed by a spreading darkness. Players follow Ayasa, a young girl travelling alone, as she tries to recover the scattered remnants of Tas’s light and restore her world.
The value shapes each land, or the land is named after it. Progress relies on paying close attention to the surroundings, solving environmental puzzles and using light to uncover hidden routes and bring ancient machines back to life. The threats Ayasa encounters are too dangerous to fight head-on, so getting through them comes down to timing, stealth and finding another way forward.
Uncovering each land’s secrets helps Ayasa understand what it means to have a conscience. However, any mysteries she leaves unsolved can pull her towards the darkness and change who she becomes.
AYASA: Shadows of Silence is out now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for $19.99 USD or local equivalent, and on PC via Steam for $24.99 USD or local equivalent.
