BOXROOM’s most requested feature has arrived just in time for the game to leave Early Access. The Steam library display and interior design game has received its Holiday Update, adding a built-in game artwork scraper along with seasonal decorations and menu improvements. BOXROOM will leave Early Access on 10 November 2026.
For those unfamiliar with it, BOXROOM is a sandbox interior design game built around a player’s Steam library. Players build, furnish and decorate a room to display their game collection, giving a physical home to all those sale purchases still waiting to be played.
Loading game artwork has been the community’s top request since launch according to the developers, and this feature comes through a partnership with IGDB and the assistance of Twitch. Players can now download artwork for their collection directly in the game. The process takes three steps: pause the game, open the Media tab and select Start Scraping. Players who prefer to design their own game cases can still do so.
The update also adds Halloween, Christmas and Easter decorations, along with redesigned in-game menus, improved controller navigation and customisable keybindings. A new shelf sorting tool can arrange games alphabetically, players can now carry up to 10 games at once, and game search is easier to find, with a new shortcut to open it. Radio controls have been improved, and an issue with overlapping video audio has been fixed.
