Studying is the one thing players will not be doing in Finals Week, a co-op game from developer DESTINYbit and publisher Pretty Soon, about getting a group of friends through their exams by any means other than learning the material. It launches on Steam on 29 October 2026.
The game is set during the last week of exams at a chaotic 90s-style school, where each test is harder than the one before. The goal is simple: the whole group passes, or the whole group fails.
That means getting creative. Players can copy answers from classmates, pass textbooks around the room, whisper over proximity chat or send answers using an indestructible mobile phone. Other options include distracting the teacher, crawling through secret passages and, if a fellow student will not hand over their notes, taking a less diplomatic approach.
Getting caught is the main risk. The teacher patrols the room, listens out for suspicious chatter and can throw an eraser with impressive accuracy. Players who are busted can end up wearing increasingly absurd restraints that make cheating much harder, though never impossible.
Teamwork and quick thinking are needed to make the most of the available tools, which include:
- Mobile phones, walkie-talkies and binoculars
- Paper balls and other throwable objects
- Textbooks hidden around the classroom
- A pen that doubles as a tranquiliser blowgun
- Classroom equipment, secret routes and distractions in the environment
- Each other
Almost any surface can be drawn on too, from desks, walls and sheets of paper to other players. That can be used for helpful exam notes, or for artwork that is considerably less helpful.
Between exams, groups can spend time in the school hall, where they can shoot some hoops, mess around with the surroundings, plan their next approach and unlock new outfits, hairstyles and colours.
