Publisher Spaghetti Cat has two new demos on Steam, and they could hardly be more different. One is a slot machine roguelite where breathing costs money, and the other is a 2D adventure about a date in a small town that may be hard to leave. Both demos are available now and will also feature in Steam Next Fest, which runs from 19 to 26 October.
Spin To Breathe, from Progressive Games, is a first-person roguelite built around a slot machine, with oxygen as the only currency that counts. Space pirates are raiding the casino, explosions are rocking the walls and every breath has a price, which climbs higher as the oxygen supply runs low. Players build up their slot machine piece by piece, chase the jackpot and try to last until rescue arrives, with the risk of suffocating if they get too greedy.
The Spin To Breathe demo takes around an hour to play through and includes:
- Six quests
- 25 trinkets
- Four quotas
- Reel editing
- Slot machine upgrades
- Support for 10 languages
The full game is due in Q4 2026.

Midnight Souls takes things in a very different direction. Made by independent developer Sergey Bolshakov, it sends its hero to Camomile Peaks, a quiet provincial town, for a date with a girl he met online. He arrives with a train ticket, plenty of nerves and a cat named Charlie, though getting out of town again is not guaranteed.
The Midnight Souls demo also runs for about an hour and introduces new characters, items, a location and events. A new menu brings the inventory, map, stats and quest log together in one place, with the map marking some of the locals and their requests, and players are notified whenever a new task becomes available.
There are a few surprises to uncover as well. Finding a bone somewhere in town earns an unexpected four-legged ally ahead of one of the fights. The bottle hunt has been reworked, with bottles now tucked away in the locals’ stories as well as in rubbish bins, so players will need to get to know everyone. Completing all of Valera’s requests rewards a blue cassette, which comes with a +10 defence bonus for reasons that are explained in the game. With some tongue in cheek, Spaghetti Cat also notes that the town has finished renovating an apartment block stairwell and relaid the kerb, just in time for winter.
The demo can be played with a keyboard or with an Xbox or PlayStation controller, and it supports 10 languages.
