Beyerdynamic Expands MMX Gaming Range With Two New Wireless Headsets

The German audio company beyerdynamic is introducing two new wireless models to its MMX gaming headset range, giving players the option of a closed-back or open-back design. The MMX 100 wireless model is the one with the closed-back design, being aimed at people who want more isolation from outside noise, whereas the MMX 130 wireless uses an open-back design which is intended to give a more spacious and natural soundstage.

Both headsets focus on sound quality, comfort, connectivity, and replaceable parts, even though each model offers a different listening experience. The MMX 100 wireless features a closed-back design to minimise external noise and help players focus on in-game audio; it also includes a detachable META VOICE microphone for voice chat.

Connectivity options include Bluetooth 6.0, a supplied low-latency USB dongle, and a wired connection, allowing the headset to work with PCs, consoles, smartphones, and handheld devices.

The MMX 100 wireless weighs 275 grams and includes soft velour ear pads. Its battery can be replaced when needed, while metal hinges and other replaceable components are intended to extend the headset’s usable life.

For players who want a less isolated listening experience, the MMX 130 wireless uses an open-back design, which lets external sounds come through while also producing a broader soundstage for music, ambient audio, and positional detail.

The Beyerdynamic MMX 130 wireless model features a specially tuned 40 mm driver coated in titanium. The company recommends using the headset for story-driven games, open-world titles, RPGs, and simulations, since environmental and spatial audio are key elements of the experience.

The open-back design also enables extra airflow to flow around the ears. Together with breathable velour ear pads and a weight of 265 grams, the design is meant to stay comfortable over longer gaming sessions.

Matthias Heilig, product marketing manager at Beyerdynamic for the gaming division, said the two models are meant to let players choose between greater isolation and a more open listening experience.

With the MMX 100 wireless and MMX 130 wireless, we’re offering gamers not just two more headsets, but two different ways to experience their games. Those looking for focus and isolation will find it in the closed-back MMX 100 wireless. Those who want to experience gaming worlds as naturally and spatially as possible will find an exciting alternative in the open-back MMX 130 wireless.

The MMX 100 wireless will make its public appearance at gamescom 2026 in Cologne, where beyerdynamic will be the First Presenter at the Indie Arena Booth. During the event, visitors will have the opportunity to try out the headset at various stands.

The MMX 100 wireless will be launched on 1 September 2026 in Black and Arctic White at a recommended retail price of £89 GBP. The MMX 130 wireless will be launched in October 2026 in the same two colour options and will cost £109 GBP. The headsets will be available for purchase via the beyerdynamic online store, Amazon, and specialist retailers from the launch date. You can also buy replacement parts and ear pads separately.
