Digital Eclipse and Atari have announced a new Toy Story collection to mark the 30th anniversary of Pixar’s franchise. Toy Story: Retro Roundup! and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition will be bundled together in a physical release for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The double pack is scheduled to launch on 15 October.
The release combines a collection of classic Toy Story era games with a modern remaster of 2010’s Toy Story 3. According to Atari and Digital Eclipse, the project is intended to preserve several older titles while making them accessible on current hardware.
Toy Story 3 Complete Edition brings the game inspired by the film of the same name to modern consoles. This version includes content previously exclusive to the PlayStation 3 release, along with upgraded visuals, higher resolutions and improved performance.
The game includes Story Mode, where players travel through locations such as Andy’s Room and Sunnyside Daycare as Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie. It also features local co-op, character swapping and each character’s unique abilities. Toy Box Mode also returns, offering an open world sandbox built around a Wild West town inspired by Woody’s Roundup. Players can complete missions, customise the environment and characters, and unlock toys, vehicles and characters from other Pixar films.
Toy Story: Retro Roundup! brings together several classic games based on the franchise, including Toy Story from 1995, Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! from 1999, Toy Story 2 from 1999, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command from 2000 and Toy Story Racer from 2001. The collection also includes A Bug’s Life from 1998 as a bonus game. These games were originally released across platforms such as PlayStation, SNES and Game Boy, with some becoming difficult to access on modern hardware.
The collection adds several quality of life features, including rewind, save and load support, practice mode and modernised “How to Play” guides. Players can also use Rex’s Cheat Code to unlock characters, levels and bonus play modes, including invincibility and unlimited lives. Visual options will allow players to use upgraded high resolution presentation or switch back to the original PlayStation 1 look for supported titles.
Beyond the games themselves, Toy Story: Retro Roundup! will include archival content, behind the scenes interviews, development materials, imagery and insights into both the films and games. Six behind the scenes video featurettes are also included, featuring industry voices such as Jason Katz, Luigi Priore, Jon Burton and Jim Hanks. A music player will also be included, featuring soundtracks from all games in the collection. This includes an uncompressed, CD quality version of the Toy Story 1 game soundtrack.
The Toy Story: Retro Roundup! + Toy Story 3 Complete Edition Double Pack will launch for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on 15 October.
