PQube has announced a partnership with Sumo Digital to bring Spyder: Agent 8 to new platforms. The stealth adventure game will be released digitally for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. A physical release is also planned for PlayStation 5.
PQube has released a new trailer introducing Agent 8, a robotic spider described as the world’s tiniest superspy. A demo is also available now on Steam, giving players an early look at the game.
Spyder: Agent 8 is set in a retro futuristic 1970s spy world. Players take control of Agent 8, a palm sized robotic spider created by the Secret Agent Facilitation Enterprise, also known as S.A.F.E. Built using experimental technology, Agent 8 is equipped with sticky feet that allow it to crawl across walls, ceilings and other surfaces. The mission centres on stopping the Syndicate of International Nasties, or S.I.N., and saving the world. Across its levels, players will take on spy themed objectives such as rescuing astronauts, sabotaging a submarine and stopping a runaway train.
Gameplay meanwhile focuses on stealth, gadgets and environmental puzzle solving. Agent 8 can avoid cameras, move through spaces human spies could never reach, and use tools such as a cutting torch and web grapple to bypass obstacles and reach new areas. Sumo Digital has also designed Spyder: Agent 8 around large scale environments seen from the perspective of a tiny robotic hero. Players will be able to crawl across floors, walls and ceilings, with camera controls built around the game’s movement system.
