Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced that tickets are now available for a special theatrical screening of the anime film Fruits Basket -prelude-. The screening is scheduled to take place on Monday, 16 February at 7:00 PM local time across select locations in the United States and Canada.
This one-day event is being held as part of Crunchyroll’s “Anime Nights” initiative. This monthly theatrical program is designed to bring anime content to the big screen on the third Monday of each month. The initiative spans over 225 locations, across a variety of cinema chains.
Originally released in cinemas in 2023, Fruits Basket -prelude- acts as a prequel to the main Fruits Basket anime series, which is currently available for streaming on the Crunchyroll platform. Based on the manga of the same name, the film focuses on the relationship between Katsuya and Kyoko, the parents of the main series protagonist, Tohru Honda.
The narrative explores the early days of Katsuya and Kyoko’s relationship, delving into Kyoko’s turbulent past and how their meeting impacted her life. The film covers the evolution of their bond and the eventual birth of the Honda family, serving as the final chapter to complete the anime adaptation of the story.
