Infold Games has announced that the latest update for Infinity Nikki, Version 2.2 “Chromatic Beings Everbright”, is now live. This update introduces content themed around the New Bloom Festival, drawing inspiration from Chinese New Year celebrations and folklore.
The narrative focus of Version 2.2 shifts to the Wanxiang Realm, a land described as a place of eternal night filled with lantern-lit streets and mythical inhabitants called Chromafaces. The protagonist Nikki and her companion Momo enter this realm to find a festive atmosphere that conceals underlying issues.
The story explores the concept of “Character Tokens”, which dictate the roles and lives of the residents. As Nikki works at Baiqiao Hall and assists the locals, she uncovers that the realm was created by Chroma to save cursed stone statues by imposing fixed identities upon them. The narrative arc sees Nikki challenging this system of control to advocate for free will.
Version 2.2 adds new equipment that alters gameplay mechanics, specifically traversal and exploration.
- Where Wanxiang Weaves Life (5-Star Resonance Outfit): Inspired by Chinese wuxia aesthetics, this outfit allows Nikki to shapeshift into various Spirit Personas. It also includes a function to automatically collect nearby resources.
- Chroma’s Mortal Heart (5-Star Resonance Outfit): This outfit grants the power of the Celestial Deer. It enables flight and enhanced movement capabilities within the Wanxiang Realm. Additionally, it provides “Celestial Deer Vision,” which helps locate and mark treasure chests.
- Nefarious Shadows (Ability Outfit): This new addition allows the player to see through disguised magical creatures and reveal hidden paths or secrets within the environment.
The Wanxiang Realm is divided into three primary areas. “Cai Ye” is a bustling festival zone featuring lanterns and crowds, while “Kongming Gorge” offers a quieter environment. “Jiuhua Pavilion” is located above these areas, described as a floating space focused on music and dance. A fourth area, the “Land of Eternal Daylight,” features a setting where the sun does not set and time stands still.
Several festival-themed activities are being integrated into the game:
- Hotpot House: A simulation-style mini-game focused on cooking and co-op interaction.
- Flavor Frenzy: A platforming challenge where Momo gathers ingredients.
- Fortune Mahjong: A tile-based game featuring solo and multiplayer modes.
Infold Games also outlined two upcoming collaborations associated with this update.
Beginning 14 February, a cultural partnership with the Dunhuang Fine Arts Institute will launch in-game. Titled “A Millennium in Colors”, this co-op quest introduces a “Mural Revival” mechanic where players restore ancient murals through coloring gameplay. Rewards include the Flying Apsaras outfit.
Offline, a crossover event with the hot pot chain Haidilao will run from 2 February to 20 February. Taking place at locations in Los Angeles and New York, visitors can scan QR codes to play mini-games for rewards, purchase themed drinks to receive merchandise, and access a Momo AR experience.
