Developer Brigada Games together with Devolver Digital has officially announced the release date for their apocalyptic admin simulator, Quarantine Zone: The Last Check. The title is scheduled to launch on Steam on 12 January 2026. A free demo is currently available for download and, if you are like me, has recently seen a surge in Youtube Shorts as of late
Quarantine Zone: The Last Check places players in the role of a government agent stationed at a crucial checkpoint during a zombie apocalypse. The core gameplay loop revolves around screening survivors attempting to enter the safety zone, managing limited resources such as food and fuel, and maintaining defence systems. Players are required to make decisions regarding who is permitted entry, balancing moral considerations against the safety of the camp.
The full release will introduce several mechanics and tools that were not available in the demo version. Agents will have access to a new portable X-ray device allows for the scanning of internal organs to detect signs of infection or locate contraband. A metiascope has been added to inspect eyes for viral symptoms, and a medical reflex hammer will be available to test survivor reflexes.
Further expanding the management aspects, the game will feature a laboratory for examining survivors with unknown symptoms to identify new viral indicators. A new economy mechanic involves capturing zombies in cages and feeding them corpses, a task for which the government provides financial compensation.
Operational management has also been revised with a new base management interface. This system offers a bird’s-eye perspective, allowing players to oversee resources from a single screen rather than manually moving carts. Combat scenarios have been expanded to include threats from above, with zombies now able to fall from rooftops, requiring players to shoot them down before they breach defences.
Quarantine Zone: The Last Check will be available on PC via Steam from 12 January 2026.
