Amber has released a playable demo for Mexican Ninja on Steam for PC, introducing a 2.5D roguelike beat ’em up that seeks to blend arcade immediacy with build focused progression. Set in Nuevo Tokyo, the game pits players against the Narkuzas, a crime syndicate born from a fusion of Narcos and Yakuza influences.
The studio positions Mexican Ninja as pick up and play with depth that rewards timing, spacing and smart character builds. Progress systems highlight Spirit Animal paths, Mexican Jutsus, and a swagger themed skill tree known as the Way of the Donkey.
The demo covers the opening push against the Narkuzas’ control of Nuevo Tokyo, focusing on short encounters and a snapshot of narrative setup to be featured in the full game, releasing on the PC in 2026.
Coinciding with the demo’s launch, Creative Director Dario Hoyo outlined the team’s inspirations and cultural mash up:
Mexican Ninja was born from our love of old-school beat em ups, then layered with the replayable bite of roguelikes. It’s Mexico meeting Japan: lucha bravado, bilingual slang, and irreverence colliding with feudal drama and Yakuza steel.
We built combat to feel fast, satisfying, and skill-based, and we let the comedy live inside the fight. That’s our philosophy: keep you on your toes, then make you grin with style, swagger, and huevos.
