Eastasiasoft has announced the official release of the retro pixel art JRPG Starlight Legacy for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, GOG and the Microsoft Store. A physical edition is in development, with further details expected to be shared in the coming weeks.
Developed by Decafesoft and published globally by Eastasiasoft Limited, Starlight Legacy draws inspiration from the 16-bit era of RPGs, offering a blend of nostalgic pixel art and updated gameplay features, including a widescreen presentation. The narrative follows three protagonists who are drawn into a conflict threatening the kingdom of Evaria. Players can freely explore the four provinces of the kingdom in any order, gathering artifacts to restore the Eternity Tree, improving their party’s abilities, meeting townspeople, engaging with monsters, and uncovering hidden secrets across a seamless game world.
The story is set in a post-medieval kingdom where the Eternity Tree has long provided peace and prosperity. A ban on magic education leads to unrest and the rise of a separatist movement in the Sky Province. After the Eternity Tree is attacked and begins to wither, the warriors Ignus and Teryl are tasked with restoring it to save the kingdom.
Starlight Legacy supports multiple languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. The game is available digitally for US$12.99 or €12.99, with a 20 percent launch discount offered on all platforms. On PlayStation systems, the discount is exclusive to Plus subscribers.
