2K and developer Hangar 13 have officially unveiled Mafia: The Old Country, with a gameplay trailer and behind-the-scenes developer video released ahead of the title’s launch on 8 August 2025. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, and offering support for NVIDIA GeForce NOW.
Set in early 1900s Sicily, Mafia: The Old Country is a linear, story-driven experience and marks a shift in structure for the franchise. Players take on the role of Enzo Favara, a young man entering the criminal underworld as he rises through the ranks of Don Torrisi’s crime family.
The gameplay trailer (below) sets out to showcase both melee and gun combat, period-accurate vehicles, and horseback traversal, all set within a highly detailed Sicilian landscape.
Speaking on the direction of the new title, Hangar 13 President Nick Baynes said:
Mafia: The Old Country is a focused, linear experience that combines quality storytelling, authentic era immersion and a refined take on the familiar Mafia gameplay. That focus allows us to deliver a story that’s gritty, grounded, brutal and emotional. Embracing early 1900s era Sicily, this is a mafia origin story that follows our protagonist, Enzo Favara, as he takes the oath and works his way up Don Torrisi’s crime family.
