First announced during the latest INDIE Live Expo showcase, HYKE: Northern Light(s) is an upcoming adventure RPG. It is currently scheduled for release on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5 in Summer 2025. The game is being planned and produced by Akatsuki Games and Aniplex, with development handled by Blast Edge Games. All three companies are based in Tokyo, Japan.
Players will take on the role of Hyke, a young spellcaster journeying through a post-war world once torn apart by conflict between humans and witches. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Hyke sets out to survive action-focused expeditions through forested landscapes, casting powerful magic to fend off lurking foes and confront the witches guarding the Forbidden Areas’ secrets.
Between these dangerous outings, players can relax at a customisable campsite. Here, they can decorate the outdoor space with items such as tarps, rugs, and furniture for Hyke’s off-road vehicle, collect ingredients, cook stat-boosting meals, manage a music playlist, and chat with companions around the campfire.
In addition to the gameplay reveal, a new four-panel webcomic titled HY-NORA! has begun publication.
