During the PlayStation State of Play broadcast, Build A Rocket Boy has announced that MindsEye, a narrative-driven, single-player action-adventure thriller, will launch in Winter 2025 (AEST) on PlayStation 5. Set in the near-future desert city of Redrock, the game seeks to explore the collision of artificial intelligence, corporate power, and human greed, aiming to place players in the middle of a story filled with action, intrigue, and high-stakes combat.
At the centre of MindsEye is Jacob Diaz, a former soldier haunted by flashbacks of a covert mission that altered his life. Equipped with a mysterious neural implant known as the MindsEye, Jacob arrives in Redrock searching for answers about the corporation behind his condition. What begins as a personal quest soon expands into a larger conspiracy, with powerful forces working against him. Along the way, Jacob will interact with a range of supporting characters—some allies, others with their own agendas. The game’s cinematics are designed to immerse players in the emotional weight of his journey, capturing the nuances of his struggle.
Gameplay in MindsEye balances strategic combat with high-speed action. On foot, Jacob will need to outmaneuver enemies using cover, vantage points, and environmental interactions. Opponents will work together to flush him out or overwhelm him, requiring quick thinking and adaptability. A companion drone can assist in combat, providing tactical support during missions. Driving sequences also play a key role, with intense chases through varied environments, from dense city streets to remote industrial sites and open deserts.
The game’s hub of Redrock serves as more than just a setting; the city is shaped by advanced technology, AI, and neural implants that have redefined daily life. Automated systems govern much of society, and the distinction between corporate influence and government control has blurred. As Jacob uncovers the city’s hidden truths, players will see how technology can be both a tool and a weapon in his mission
