Idea Factory International has revealed Calamity Angels: Special Delivery, a new RPG centred around a delivery service, set to launch physically and digitally on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch later this year. The game features character designs by Kei Nanameda, known for his work on Mary Skelter and Death end re;Quest, bringing his distinct, cartoon-inspired art style to a unique title developed by Compile Heart.
In Calamity Angels: Special Delivery, players take charge of an eccentric group of couriers as they navigate dangerous terrains, fend off monsters, and compete with rival delivery services to prove themselves as the best in the Orkotris Region. Players will manage their team’s moods, ensuring they stay motivated for both deliveries and combat. Unhappy couriers may ignore orders, while unexpected outcomes in battle could turn the tide in surprising ways.
Gameplay involves selecting delivery assignments from a Bulletin Board, carefully packing parcels to fit within their designated space, and equipping crew members with the necessary gear to handle encounters along the way. A roulette mechanic determines movement on the map, leading to shop spaces, special package pickups, or even unexpected boss battles.
Looking to be quite a distinct game from Compile Heart, whose past releases are the likes of the Neptunia franchise.
