As part of their 25th Anniversary of The Sims franchise, Electronic Arts has re-released complete editions of their iconic life simulation games The Sims 1 and The Sims 2. While each of these collections have minimal changes to them from their original release, they have been upgraded to at the very least support Windows 10 and Windows 11 platforms.
Being the older but arguably more nostalgic of the two, The Sims: Legacy Collection is now available via the EA App or Steam for $29.95 AUD. This includes the base game and every expansion pack – The Sims Livin’ Large, The Sims House Party, The Sims Hot Date, The Sims Vacation, The Sims Unleashed, The Sims Superstar, and The Sims Makin’ Magic.
Meanwhile The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is $20 more expensive at $49.95 AUD via both the EA App and Steam, and again offers the base game and all expansion and (some) stuff packs released for the game. These include The Sims 2: University, The Sims 2: Nightlife, The Sims 2: Open for Business, The Sims 2: Pets, The Sims 2: Bon Voyage, The Sims 2: Seasons, The Sims 2: FreeTime, The Sims 2: Apartment Life, The Sims 2: Holiday Party Pack, The Sims 2: Family Fun Stuff, The Sims 2: Glamour Life Stuff, The Sims 2: Happy Holiday Stuff, The Sims 2: Celebration! Stuff, The Sims 2: H&M Fashion Stuff, The Sims 2: Teen Style Stuff, The Sims 2: Kitchen & Bath Interior Design Stuff, The Sims 2: Mansion & Garden Stuff. Omissions appear to be those with licensed content.
A special 25th Birthday Bundle combining both games is also available on the EA App and Steam at a slightly discounted price. It should be noted that while the games officially support Windows 10 and 11, there still appear to be some issues with some PCs, and it doesn’t appear that all pre-existing bugs have been resolved.
Also, can we take a moment to appreciate how much effort was clearly put into the 25th Anniversary Legacy Collection release trailer, which replicates the style of the trailers Maxis released for The Sims 1, with many, many references to the original games.
