After what has been a very leaky lead-up to the console’s official announcement, console manufacturer and developer Nintendo has formally announced that the Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to the Nintendo Switch, is slated for release in 2025. Today, the company provided a first look at the new console through a ‘First Look’ trailer, which can be viewed below. System specs have not yet been shared – so watch this space.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will support both exclusive games designed for the new system and a library of existing Nintendo Switch titles in physical and digital formats. However, Nintendo has noted that certain games from the current system may not be fully compatible with the new console, with more information to be shared via their official channels in the future.
To provide further insights into the Nintendo Switch 2, the company will host a special presentation titled Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 – 4.2.2025 on Wednesday, 2 April 2025.
