Wuthering Waves Receives Version 2.0 Update, PS5 Support

Kuro Games has announced the release of its open-world action free-to-play gacha-supported RPG, Wuthering Waves, on PlayStation 5. This new version supports cross-platform data sharing with PC and mobile devices, enabling a seamless gaming experience across all platforms. The launch coincides with the rollout of the game’s first major numerical update, Version 2.0, which is also available on PC and mobile.

Version 2.0 introduces the new continent of Rinascita, a nation of independent city-states known as the “Land of Echoes.” The update brings a range of new content, including eight areas, new characters, skins, bosses, and gameplay optimisations. To make the transition easier for players, a new Shortcut feature allows access to the latest storylines and areas after completing specific quest notes early in the game.

The new region of Rinascita sets out to offer players diverse environments and narratives. Among its offerings is Ragunna, a port city with waterways, vibrant arts, and a devotion to the Sentinel. Other notable locations include Whisperwind Haven with its iconic windmills, Hallowed Rach, a restricted area filled with ruins, and the mysterious Penitent’s End island. Players can also explore Thessaleo Fells, steeped in darkness and history, and the treasure-laden Averardo Vault, built by the Montelli family – among others.

The update introduces new characters, including Carlotta, a 5-star Resonator and member of the Montelli family, who wields dual pistols designed around a gem and crystal aesthetic. Another new character, Roccia, is set to debut in the second half of the update cycle as a 5-star, and is a performer from the Fool’s Troupe who combines improvisational comedy with combat, supported by her partner, Chest Mimic Pero. These characters are accompanied by the addition of new weapons, including Carlotta’s pistols, “The Last Dance,” and Roccia’s gauntlets, “Tragicomedy”.

For the first time, Wuthering Waves will also feature character skins. Jinhsi and Sanhua are among the characters receiving new outfits in this update. Players will also face new bosses, including the Dragon of Dirge and enhanced Nightmare Echoes, which are reimagined versions of previous enemies with unique mechanics. The update adds over 40 new Echoes with 25 of them to be obtainable and equippable.

New gameplay mechanics include a flight feature, transformations, and gondola-based activities within quests. Additional mini-games, such as Plushie Punch and Echo Challenges, add playful elements to the game. Several optimisations, such as a gender-switch feature and a simplified UI mode, among other new additions.

Developed by Kuro Games, Wuthering Waves is now available on PC, iOS, Android and as of now, the PlayStation 5.
