The cozy harbor town of Grat will soon be available for exploration on a new platform. Whitethorn Games’ Metroidvania-inspired cooking simulation game Magical Delicacy is set to release on Nintendo Switch on 15 August.
In Magical Delicacy, players take on the role of Flora, a young witch aiming to hone her magical abilities. Flora arrives in the adventurer’s town of Grat, where she sets up a shop to prepare meals and potions for the locals. As Flora navigates the town, she interacts with its diverse inhabitants, unravels hidden stories, and discovers that Grat holds more secrets than it first appears.
Players will collect ingredients from various sources, including local shops, foraging, and Flora’s own garden. These ingredients can be used in an upgradeable kitchen to create meals that satisfy the appetites of the town’s residents. The game also features elements of exploration, where players can unlock new abilities and access previously unreachable areas.
Key features of Magical Delicacy include:
- A variety of recipes and ingredients to discover through trade, quests, and exploration.
- A flexible cooking system that allows players to creatively fulfill unique and challenging orders.
- The ability to upgrade and customise Flora’s kitchen with new equipment.
- A linear story enriched with optional encounters, set in a world filled with magical intrigue.
- 2D platforming inspired by Metroidvania-style gameplay, with new abilities and shortcuts to uncover.
- A cozy pixel art aesthetic that brings the game’s characters, environments, and food to life.
Magical Delicacy is currently available on PC via Steam, and on Xbox One and Series X|S for $24.99 USD, with access included for Xbox Game Pass holders. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch starting 15 August.
