Publisher Spike Chunsoft has released their second free content update for the Nintendo Switch exclusive Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island. This update introduces brand new features, the playable character Tatsumi Shiren and more. Scroll down for a list of everything introduced in this version:
1. Playable Character: Tatsumi Shiren Tatsumi Shiren, a combination of characters Tatsumi and Shiren, is now available for selection in the Sacred Tree trials. This character cannot equip items but can perform special attacks using Fullness. Tatsumi Shiren is unlocked after clearing the Cavern of Suiryu dungeon.
2. Increased Dungeon Floors Several dungeons in Sacred Tree mode now feature increased floor counts, enhancing the challenge and exploration opportunities. The updated dungeons include:
- Kiki Island: 25F → 99F
- Training Path of Inference: 20F → 50F
- Training Path of Extra Inference: 20F → 50F
- Peach Dungeon: 20F → 99F
- Sumo Dungeon: 20F → 99F
- Cat-Ching’s Divine Will: 10F → 99F
- Trapper’s Secret Path: 20F → 99F
- Training Path of Gimmicks: 20F → 50F
- Training Path of Shopping: 40F → 99F
- Behemoth Rush: 30F → 99F
- Sacred Ocean Tunnel: 15F → 99F
- Domain of Staves and Scrolls: 20F → 50F
- Isle of the Mighty: 50F → 99F
Note: These dungeons can only be selected if they have been previously cleared.
3. Basic Training Mode A new “Basic Training” mode has been added to the Monster Dojo. This mode helps players learn the basics of dungeon navigation with predetermined items and enemy placements, teaching techniques to reach the stairs efficiently. Basic Training mode is accessible after unlocking the Monster Dojo.
4. New Threat Alert The ‘Threat Alert’ feature warns players when they are about to be knocked out by taking damage equal to or greater than the amount just received. This feature can be toggled on or off in the game settings.
5. Balance Adjustments and Other Improvements The update also includes various balance adjustments and other improvements to enhance gameplay.
Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island is available now in both physical and digital versions for the Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe.
