After being previously available only on Meta Quest and the PlayStation VR2, Foggy Box Games are set to release the cosmic bartending virtual reality game, Startenders, to Steam in the coming days. Set for release on 25 April 2024, the Steam version will feature all previously released updates, and will be offered at a 50% discount for a limited time at launch.
In Startenders, players enroll in the Startenders Academy, where they prepare drinks for a variety of interstellar patrons. The gameplay involves interacting with unique ingredients and methods, such as slicing Quantum Mass, shaking Rocket Fuel, and cryogenically freezing cocktails. The game features 100 named recipes and 25 types of liquors from both Earth and alien sources, with the developers claiming over 2 million possible uniquely blending beverages.
Players can also explore other aspects of the game between bartending shifts. They can track their ranking within the academy, discover new ingredients, earn blueprints for novel beverages, and use their earnings to enhance their bartending skills.
Startenders offers several game modes including ‘Story’, ‘Free Mix’, ‘Pass the Headset’, and ‘Daily Run’, providing a variety of gameplay experiences. The game is designed to be accessible, with various VR options available to accommodate both standing and seated play, ensuring a wide range of players can serve an eclectic mix of customers, from robots to gelatinous aliens.
Startenders was developed by Foggy Box Games, and is being published by Yogscast Games.
