While initially confirmed to only be performing in the role of Miss Lynch as part of GREASE’s 2024 Melbourne season, actor Patti Newton is confirmed to now be travelling with the cast through its Sydney and Perth seasons later this year. GREASE is currently being performed at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre, and will continue running through to early March 2024, where it will move to Sydney’s Capitol Theatre, and from 30 June call Perth its home.
Patti Newton features in the role of Miss Lynch, and is joined by Marcia Hines and Paulini as other big names alternating the role of Teen Angel. Additionally, the cast features Joseph Spanti (Danny Zuko), Annelise Hall (Sandy Dumbrowski), Mackenzie Dunn (Betty Rizzo), Keanu Gonzalez (Kenickie), Brianna Bishop (Marty), Jay Laga’aia (Vince Fontaine), and a sizable ensemble cast.
Since its Broadway premiere and the subsequent hit movie starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, GREASE has continued to be presented around the world – from amateur theatre productions to major national tours. The Tony Award-nominated musical seeks to captivate audiences with a combination of adolescent angst, dynamic physicality, and 1950s pop culture. The film adaptation went on to become the highest-grossing movie-musical of all time.
Upon its original Broadway closure in 1980, GREASE held the record for the longest-running musical with 3,388 performances. The recent addition of the Pink Ladies series on Paramount has further expanded the GREASE universe. The musical’s enduring popularity has led to various adaptations over the years, including a 1982 film sequel, a 2007 competition reality series, Broadway revivals, and numerous international productions.
