Winning the annual community-led Star Citizen Ship Showdown back in 2020, the year it first became flyable in ‘the Verse’, it seems like the Anvil Carrack is still proving to be a fan favourite. After being taken down last year by The MPUV Carco, Anvil Aerospace’s Military Exploration ship has taken out the 2022 prize for the second time.
This news comes following the standard ‘Community Call’ round, where the Star Citizen community could nominate their favourite ships by posting something creative using a specific hashtag on Twitter or the game’s community forums, and live showdown rounds where the Top 16 were whittled down to the one winner.
The four ships that made it into the semi-finals (Anvil Carrack, RSI Scorpius, Crusader Mercury, Anvil C8X Pisces) will all receive a limited edition paint option as well as Manufacturer challenge coin, obtainable by all those who own the ship. The Anvil Carrack will also receive a collectable, in-game ship model. All items will be available at the upcoming IAE 2952, hosted in November.
Well, we did it folks. After a long and electrifying road chock full of twists, turns, drama, intrigue, underdogs, overdogs, and all dogs in between, we’ve finally come to the end of the road. We’ve seen a lot over these last weeks: manufacturers fighting themselves, snub craft taking down much larger competition, classic grudge matches, and shots at sweet redemption. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve taken to the skies, and now that the smoke has cleared, it seems as if a prodigal child has returned to the mountain top. That’s right folks, the mighty Anvil Carrack, after taking 2951 off (it was probably out exploring something), comes back in a major way to steal another victory from the clutches of the beleaguered Mercury. Sorry smugglers and Crusader heads, turns out Carrack maybe actually is life after all. At least until next year’s Showdown.
