Since launching in 2020, Ubisoft and their Nadeo studio’s racing game Trackmania has earnt itself a loyal, active fanbase – from casual players to an intensely competitive speed running scene. But despite the universal nature of racing games often lending themselves to multiplatform releases, in the two years post-launch, it has remained exclusive to the PC platform. Until next year at least…
Ubisoft has confirmed that Trackmania will be launching on the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 gaming platforms, and Amazon Luna and Google Stadia cloud gaming platforms starting early 2023. Similar to the PC release, Trackmania will remain free-to-play through the base version, and offer cross-play and cross-progression among all platforms. Ubisoft has also shared a commitment of “parity for official racing content between all platforms” – so hopefully whether you play on the PC or Xbox One – you should have access to the same content.
The Trackmania premium access plans will also be available on all platforms. In addition to regular Esports events like the Cup Of The Day, these premium access tiers unlock more social and community-oriented features such as Trackmania clubs, allowing groups of players to create and share their own car customizations, organize private rooms and the ability to build their own campaigns and competitions.
Furthermore with this early 2023 update, Trackmania will receive a new feature which allows players to display their skills in another way – being able to unlock evolutive car skins based on their driving talents and achievements. There will also be more than 150 new blocks and items introduced into the game.
Keep an eye out for more information on the Console + Cloud release of Trackmania in the coming months.
