While we will still need to wait until late-February 2013 for Ubisoft to release Rayman Legends on the Wii U, the company have today confirmed that a demo of the game is now available on the Nintendo eShop for fans to download and check out at least some of what they can expect when the game launches.
Rayman Legends takes full advantage of the innovative Wii U GamePad controller to explore fresh multiplayer gameplay experiences and expand beyond the traditional platformer genre. Players can use the Wii U GamePad to discover new ways to navigate through the game with touch–based gameplay to take out enemies or clear paths and gyroscope technology to manipulate and rotate platforms. The GamePad also allows you to continue the adventure of Rayman and his friends on the controller screen even while the television is off.
Rayman Legends retains the fantasy appeal of its predecessor while adding a multitude of clever and entertaining gaming modes, new characters, new environments and a new soundtrack. The award-winning team of artists, designers and composers have also returned with an advanced UbiArt engine to include multi-dimension gameplay elements, an improved lighting system and updated game rendering that elevate Rayman’s previous graphics to the next level.
Rayman Legends is a sequel to last years multiplatform release of Rayman Origins. My review for this title can be read HERE – the game also came second place in my Game of the Year 2011 Awards citing some of the most creative visuals and gameplay I have seen in a sidescrolling platformer.
