While Microsoft has been more open for a good few weeks about their next-generation console dubbed the ‘Xbox Series X’, Sony Interactive Entertainment have held all but the new Dualshock Controller and a few other titbits close to their chest on theirs… until now. After months and months of waiting for further information, the console manufacturer has confirmed that they will be providing “a look at the future of gaming on PlayStation 5” on Friday 5 June 2020 at 6.00 am AEST.
Planned to run for an hour, this stream will stream via both the official PlayStation Twitch and Youtube channels. They have described the content being showcased as providing “players with a peek into the future looking at the games available to players after the PS5 launches this holiday“. While by no means confirmed, here’s hoping for our first look at the console design we will be seeing on our shelves for the next few years, as well.
In a statement made on the official PlayStation Blog by President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan:
The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe. Studios, both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established, all have been hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware. Sony Interactive Entertainment is as thrilled as ever to bring players on the journey to redefine the future of videogames.
