Whilst I know this may be a kick in the delicate region for those who like me, have been waiting for an English release of the first game, it has been announced that Alchemist will be publishing their second and final installment of their Umineko no Naku Koro ni PS3 ports on the 15th of December for 8,379 yen. The Umineko series has proved extremely successful for both 07th Expansion and 07Ryukishi, however it is good to see that they are offering the game with high quality graphics, voice acting and CG art and turn it into more of a visual novel. This is not to say the Sound Novel format of the original releases wern’t good – this is one of the better murder mystery stories I have read.
Chiru continues on from Umineko no Naku Koro ni, however this time focuses more on the mystery side of the story in an attempt to crack the case, rather then another four arcs of a family being tortured in every way possible from burning in an incinerator to being squashed by a giant cake. At the end of the day you must decide – Was this murder done by a witch or a human?
As I hinted above, there is currently no plans to release the PS3 version of the game outside of Japan, and doesn’t seem like there will be anytime soon – despite the popularity. For those who are interested in what the game will look like, the following trailer is for the first game in the series:
This is not all they are doing for the series – with four sets of PSP games each covering two chapters due out starting from the 20th of October and their XBox360 port of the Umineko fighting game due out on the 6th of October.
