Visual novel licensor, localiser, and publisher MangaGamer utilised its presentation at Anime Central 2026 to reveal a pair of new visual novel acquisitions alongsiderelease plans for an upcoming physical edition – on a rather surprising medium. The announcements cover a mix of content, featuring expansions to established franchises as well as standalone adult-rated titles.
For its digital lineup, MangaGamer secured the licensing rights for Umineko: When They Cry – Saku, which will be distributed via Steam and the official MangaGamer website. This release compiles three separate fan disks for the broader Umineko franchise into a single package. The collection includes:
- Umineko: When They Cry – Tsubasa, which adapts 15 episodes originally distributed via Comiket booklets into a visual novel format
- Umineko: When They Cry – Hane, which contains the side stories Jessica and the Killer Electric Fan and Forgery No. XXX.
- Umineko: When They Cry – Saku, introduces a new witch character named Piece who opposes main characters Battler, Enju, and Beatrice across the stories Our Confessions and Last Note of the Golden Witch.
While these narratives primarily function as comical side stories separate from the core plot, they offer supplementary background information for the series. Following the visual standard of previous localizations, the game includes updated character sprites that align with the Steam version’s aesthetic, alongside a toggle option to view Ryukishi’s original artwork.
The second digital license is the adult-rated title Secret Affairs: Sweaty Midsummer Rut, developed by the studio behind Funbag Fantasy. The narrative utilizes netorare themes and focuses on a protagonist named Otsuki Kenzou, who lives in rural isolation following the death of his wife. To support him, his three sons arrange for their respective wives to move into his home to provide care. The plot tracks the consequences that arise when Kenzou’s disposition shifts, leading him to view his daughters-in-law differently before eventually being caught in an indiscreet moment.
Also among the announces is the physical launch date for Beat Valkyrie Ixseal USB Physical Edition, an adult-rated title serving as the third and final installment in Alicesoft’s magical girl training series. Scheduled for release on 25 June 2026, this physical edition packages the game and its official soundtrack onto a custom USB flash drive, accompanied by a digital download code inside an illustrated case. Pre-orders for the physical format are currently open through the publisher’s storefront.
