MangaGamer Announce Plans for Distant Memoraĵo, a Sequel to 2019’s The Expression: Amrilato

In 2019, developer SukeraSparo and publisher MangaGamer partnered up to release The Expression: Amrilato, a visual novel billed as a “heartwarming, and educational yuri visual novel”. “A educational yuri visual novel?” you might ask? The educational elements of this all-ages friendly title comes from it teaching readers Esperanto, an international auxiliary language. Now in 2021 and the companies are partnering up together to release Distant Memoraĵo, a two-chapter visual novel continuing the tale of Rin and Ruka.

Distant Memoraĵo is planned for release via both the official MangaGamer online store and Steam at a later date. Regardless of platform, it will be priced at $19.95 USD or local equivalent, and will remain an all-ages friend title. While voice acting will be in Japanese, text will be localised into four languages: English, Esperanto, Japanese and Chinese (the latter at a later date).

Keep an eye out on The Otaku’s Study for more information about the visual novel’s release when it is made available.

About Distant Memoraĵo

Rin – An ordinary high school girl lost in a parallel reality that looks just like the Japan she knows, but where everybody speaks an unfamiliar language called “Juliamo.”

Coming to her aid are:
Ruka – An angelic girl who’s taken it upon herself to be Rin’s caretaker.
Rei – A woman with a bit of a mean streak.

In this sequel to The Expression Amrilato, we’ll get to see…

Their past together, unknown to Rin.
Their present together, unknown to all.

“Sometime in the future”
Rin spends her days torturing herself, still obsessed over the change in the color of the sky of this parallel world. As she agonizes over whether or not she should have returned home, cracks begin to form in her relationship with Ruka, her middle school-aged roommate. Haunted not only by thoughts of her old best friend Yuuzu, but now by the antagonistic Kanako and her gang as well… which future will Rin choose?

“Sometime in the past”

Rei fell into this parallel world as a middle schooler, but now she’s an adult taking on the responsibilities of a new job. One day, while busy getting ready for work, Rei encountered a young girl near the train station: Ruka. And so, Rei enthusiastically went through the formal process to become Ruka’s legal guardian. This is where we quietly raise the curtain on Rei ― a young entry-level librarian ― and her tumultuous life raising a belligerent grade schooler.
